Hello again CC,
I was scrolling through the admissions results of last year, and saw that most people, or a majority, took Math 2 as a subject test. For me, the humanities and english are stronger, 760 and 720 vs my pitiful 620 in Math 2, even though i am in AP Calc. Do you think that Duke will look down upon my skewed SAT 2s, world history and Lit, or do i need to retake Math 2? Thoughts and advice are appreciated, I am actually really lost on this one!

It would really only be an issue if you are applying to Pratt for Engineering. In that case, you should be submitting Math II and a 620 would hurt you. If you are applying to Trinity, don’t sweat it. Just submit your scores that are 700+ and don’t worry about submitting the Math II. Duke allows SAT score choice, so you’ll be ok.

Oh thank god! Yeah I am definitely no engineer, I just didn’t know if they would be suspicious since they are lopsided in humanities. Would it Benifit me to retake math 2 and submit a 700+ score to show them I’m well rounded?

If you submit the SAT, Duke requires only 2 SAT subject tests, so you certainly don’t have to take Math II again and resubmit if you already have two others on which you’ve scored >700. That being said, in such a competitive applicant pool, I would say it could only help.

@dukedad: I’m probably going to apply to Pratt. I got a 740 on Math II and 770 on Math I. I took the ACT, so do you think I should submit those scores?

^^1995Andrew…in general, I don’t think any scores above 740 would hurt anyone. That being said, I believe that Math II is one of the easier SAT II tests and there are many applying to Pratt that score 800 on it. So, not sure what to tell you. If you have an ACT score in Duke’s top quartile (35 or 36), you might not want to submit those SATII’s.

Does anyone know if early Nov scores will reach in time for ED? Im taking the SAT in Oct, but I wanted to take the SAT2s in early Nov, I wouldn’t die if they didn’t get there in time, but does anyone have any insight? I know on the duke website that it says they usually do, but has anyone actually done this?

@SouthernBelleEM: I applied ED, and I’m pretty sure it’ll make it if you choose expedited shipping for the score report. I didn’t contact the admissions office for verification, but I really doubt that I would have been accepted if my SAT had been 200 points lower.

Did you see the score before you sent it? or did you just do automatic send from when its scored.

I sent them from the collegeboard website after I saw my scores, iirc.

thanks so much!
