Is a negative trend detrimental to your application

Freshman and sophomore year combined I had a 3.92 unweighted GPA (2 B’s total in four semesters) taking all the top level classes I could. This year, junior year, I’m taking five weighted classes out of my six classes total including three AP’s and two honors. Five weighted classes is pretty rigorous compared to my peers, most of which take about two or three, maybe even four (my school doesn’t rank). If i suddenly get 2 or 3 B’s a semester this year and my unweighted drops to a 3.7 or 3.8, will it look as bad as I think it will? At the moment I’m trying to get into Purdue, Illinois U-C, or Georgia Tech. Thanks for your guys’ time!

Going from a 3…9 to a 3.7 is not ideal (staying at 3.9 or moving up would be best) but colleges understand higher difficulty. Chill out. Can you afford all those OOS public Us which will not offer much or any financial aid?

Review the concept of “statistical noise”

The semester isn’t over yet, so I would worry less about the effects of having 2-3 B’s, and more on working hard to prevent those B’s from happening.
