I curious if making a resume for one of the colleges that I’m applying to is necessary or not. Also I’m applying to Chapel Hill by the way.
If you think there is more to show the colleges than yes make one. But if it pretty much everything you have put down on the application, I’d say its not necessary.
I think it is a good idea to have a resume prepared. A resume can be a good thing to give to someone writing you a letter of recommendation, to submit with a scholarship application, or to send to a college coach or professor that you might be communicating with.
Submitting an “optional” resume as part of the CommonApp (or other application) IMO is not a great idea, since most of the same info should already be in your application. You don’t want to give them more paper to read, and have them realize there’s nothing new there. Maximize your use of the space on the application, and in most cases you shouldn’t need to attach a resume.
It is absolutely not required. My D found it helpful 1) for any interview she went on and 2) as an attachment to the common app because she used it as an opportunity to put a bit more detail about her ECs and academic experiences.
