is a SGR request a good sign? Anyone else receive one?

My son received a spring grades request today, what does it mean, is this a good sign? and did anyone else receive one?

Did he get rejected and appeal, or is he a Spring Admit hoping to be bumped to fall?

He’s a transfer applicant on the trojan tranfer plan.

is he transferring as a sophomore or junior?

I think it is standard to ask for the SGR for transfer applicants. I wouldn’t read anything into it! Sorry!

He’s transferring as a sophomore

i just received one and was part of TTP

did you receive it from Admission department or Financial Aid?

I think it might be a sign of spring admission. SGR still has a chance to get in thou!

from admissions, basically it’s a neutral thing. they just want to make sure your grades are still up to standards, especially since we only had fall semester grades being sophomore transfers. look in the past usc transfer threads, a lot of people who received SGRs in early May were accepted for fall that year. doesn’t necessarily mean spring admission. hope this helps clear up confusion.

I personally know someone in USC admissions, and she told me that it either means one of two things. If it is for Soph., then they want to make sure he kept up his grades & has enough transferrable credits. For Juniors, it may mean that they were a little “bumpy” with their grades, and they want to see whether you pull them up. Since he’s coming in a sophomore, it is a common thing. If his grades are as good or better than they were first semester, he should get in.

@ coreyalexander2 i’m a hopeful junior transfer and haven’t receive anything. Is that a bad sign or they are gonna reject in May?

Thanks for the info…today we received a request from fin aid for a few additional items,
Hope all is good news!

When’s the latest they send SGR’s? I’m a little surprised I haven’t been asked for one yet.
