Is a transfer to UCLA film school possible for me?

Im thinking about applying as a transfer student to UCLA's Film/Television school for the Fall 06 term.

3.75 GPA
IGETC certified
Phi Theta Kappa
Alpha Gamma Sigma

In addition to school I've been acting since I was a child and have been an active member in the Screen Actor's Guild since 1998. Would I stand a chance at being admitted with any of these accomplishments? I've heard competition for their film school is extremely stiff, so if there are any other film schools similar in curriculum to UCLA's I'd appreciate the recommendations. Thanks in advance for feedback.

I think they only take something like 15-25 transfers a year (stats may have changed, but not by much). Your resume may help you, but just realize that you're talking about a less than 5% acceptance rate. Obviously USC's film school is another option (ucla's and usc's film departments kind of share the top two spots as far as prestige, although who ranks as #1 depends on who you talk to). As far as other UCs, none really compare to UCLA's film school.

You may want to consider Fullerton as a safety. They're building a very impressive reputation with their communications department (which has a film and tv division) and I suspect that it'll become pretty competitive.

I can't really help you with out of state suggestions. But good luck and such. Film&tv is tough.
