Is ABET Certification important in an Engineering degree?

My D is pursuing a degree in Environmental Engineering. Not all schools she is considering have ABET certified programs. My feeling is that she should only look at certified ones, but I’m not an engineer so I don’t know. How will this affect getting a job down the road? Her CSU school is certified but her UC schools are not.

Which UC schools? Merced, Irvine and Riverside are ABET accredited. It’s not uncommon for Environmental Engineering to fall under a school’s Civil (ABET accredited) program. For example, at UC-Berkeley, students graduate with a (ABET accredited ) BS in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Environmental Engineering.

@Gator88NE‌ UCSD. Thanks for the info on UCB–I didnt know that’s how it worked. I guess she does know what she’s doing. I better go apologize.
