Is Academic Renewal Worth It?

As the title says, Is academic renewal worth it? Years ago, I attended a couple different community colleges just to stay under my parents insurance. I didn't really care at the time and acquired many many substandard grades, withdrawals, and GPAs < 2. I now know that wasn't really a good idea.

I currently have a 3.7 GPA after taking 33 units at my current community college (not including my grades from previous schools). Should I go through the process of getting academic renewal at my previous schools? Wouldn't UCs and CSUs assume that you did poorly in semesters with academic renewal? Would my new academic standing be enough on its own to transfer to a UC or CSU without having to apply for academic renewal?

You need to have a chat with your current advisor and the Transfer Counselor at your CC. They have experience with this kind of thing. And yes, those old ugly transcripts will have to be submitted when you apply for transfer, so you do want to do your best to minimize the negative effects of those old bad grades.

Yea, I read before that those bad semesters would follow me… Hopefully they won’t impact me being able to transfer.
