Is admission at ANY uni even possible in this situation?

Is it possible for any college, for someone to take their first SAT on Jan 26 this year, get scores, apply at a college, get in (including an open dorm), apply for financial aid/etc, all for Fall 09? Basically squeezing everything into a year? Which US colleges have the latest deadlines for this year's admissions? Because everyone I know have this stuff done ages before the year they attend.

Srry if this is in the wrong forum. This is for my friend.

Try looking at websites for small public schools in your state. Some of those might be late-ish. That’s a pretty tough situation there. :S

EDIT: By small, I mean not the flagship university. Though depending on the state it might be possible it’s not til later. Just look and see.

I don’t know where you live, or are willing to go. . .but there are many colleges and universities that have rolling admissions, very liberal admissions requirements and are a good value. You could consider beginning at ones of these and then transferring to a school that is perhaps a better fit for your needs later. One school I know of that potentially fits is Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. (wright.edu). You could even consider a community college as a starting point. Try not to panic. . .it wont help your situation. Good Luck.

Would your friend be interested in an SAT/ACT optional school? Some of those have deadlines that haven’t past yet :)

Of course it is possible. Every year, around the middle of May, the website nacacnet.org publishes a list of schools that are still accepting applications for the fall class of the same year. There are always some surprisingly good schools on the list that either misjudged the number of applicants they would get, or did not get quite the yield they expected. The list also contains information as to which of those schools still have housing and financial aid available. If it is possible to submit an application in May and still get in somewhere, it is certainly possible to do so in January.

Note that your friend does not have to wait for the SAT scores to get started on filling out the application, writing essays, and lining up letters of recommendation.
