How do they achieve this: 74% of their clients get into an ivy ? Do they just accept those who have the credentials to get into those schools regardless of the essay. Smacks of scam. But I’d say that of much of the college prep industry.
Just wrote a whole paragraph and then realized I had already commented on this topic before! So I’m not going to repeat myself, just wanna add, yes, CollegeVine doesn’t work, don’t waste your time and money. It’s just some elite school graduates trying to monetize on their school brand names. It’s really unethical!
74% of their clients get into an Ivy? Unless they only take top end athletes, URM’s with great stats and development admits, this is impossible. Even if they took only unhooked kids with 4.0GPA and >1530 SAT, they couldn’t get 74% of them into an Ivy - there are too many of those kids competing for too few spots. If they started advising Freshman year and could organize world class, EC’s then slightly more believable. Caveat Emptor.
I just signed up for their mentorship program for 1 year. Kid is rising sophomore. The total cost is $2,600. I have scheduled the first session and after that if I am not happy with the mentor, we can get 80% refund. Probably a very expensive lesson but this is my first experience. The mentor is not very well matched. My child is STEM focussed and the person graduated in public law. This was not what was promised to me. I am actually quite disappointed but am willing to give a chance to this person. Let’s see how this works out.
