They say in the Wharton page to sign up for challenging courses as a first semester student. They also say we recommend you to have proficiency in a foreign language by the time you are a junior?

My schedule so far looks like:

Multivar Calc Honors
Intro to Psych
Intro to MIcroEcon
Expos WRiting

Im thinking of getting rid of psych and adding advanced stats

will that make my schedule competitive enough?

Does it give a transfer applicant the edge if he/she has taken a foreign language in his/her first year?

so tell me then, will those 4 courses listed above make me a competitive applicant?

**At the Wharton School, the first collegiate business school in the world, the undergraduate program integrates the intellectual enrichment of a liberal arts education with a solid general business curriculum. Wharton students take courses in the arts, sciences and humanities, while learning business fundamentals and pursuing a business concentration.

All applicants must meet the requirements by the end of the term in which they are enrolled at the time of transfer application. In addition to the academic requirements, all applicants should have demonstrated leadership skills through involvement in their current college community. Students are encouraged to transfer after their freshman year because we have very few spaces available for entering juniors.

Applicants who wish to enter for their sophomore year must have completed:

* Two semesters of integral calculus, or its equivalent (MATH 103, MATH 104)
One semester of introductory microeconomics (ECON 001)
One semester of introductory macroeconomics (ECON 002) OR one semester of a combined introductory micro and macroeconomics course (ECON 010)

Credit for Wharton’s calculus requirement, MATH 104, requires students have both 1st and 2nd semester calculus course credit. AP credit for Math 104 can only be received if applicants scored a “5” on the BC Calculus AP exam. No credit is awarded for the AB Calculus AP. Applicants should check the Penn Mathematics Department homepage for more information about the math requirement and transfer credit information. Math courses below the level of calculus and statistics courses without a calculus prerequisite will NOT transfer to Penn.

In addition to the above, incoming juniors must have already completed:

* One semester of financial accounting (ACCT 101)
One semester of managerial accounting (ACCT 102)
Two semesters of statistics (with a calculus prerequisite) (STAT 101, STAT 102)

It is also recommended that all applicants gain proficiency in a foreign language by the time they enroll at Penn. Proficiency is usually equal to four semesters of college-level language courses and must be demonstrated by passing a proficiency exam at Penn before graduation.

Transfer students who wish to matriculate into the Wharton School must do so through initial admission to the University; externally admitted transfer students are not permitted to transfer again within the University. Transfer students enrolled in the other three undergraduate schools may still take Wharton courses but will not be able to transfer internally once they are at Penn. Applicants already holding undergraduate degrees will not be considered for transfer admissions to Wharton.

Please visit the Wharton Undergraduate Division website at or contact them if you have any questions about the program.
