Is AEM even MORE Competitive than Wharton????

As the early decision deadline looms over my head, I am starting to doubt myself for applying ED to cornell’s AEM program. Taking a look at the infograph provided by http://dyson.cornell.edu/undergraduate, the incoming class size was 92 students. Only 92!!! And with rumors about recruited athletes and legacies getting accepted ED, do I even stand a chance? I come from a suburban public school and we dont even have a business club or any business related courses. I did start anentrepreneurship club and interned briefly at a financial firm. My grades and test scores are stellar. However, won’t I just get outcompeted by those applicants who have already founded a company, parents are wealthy, etc. considering less than a 100 kids are admitted every year? Do I have better chances at Wharton instead?

It is not 92 students get admitted. It is 92 students matriculated. I will throw it out there, if you have the right ECs, you may want to consider Hotel. They learn about business, but with more of hospitality focus. Hotel also has a minor in real estate. The school has one of the strongest alumni network. They also have the highest employment rate. On the other hand, if you have very good stats, your chance is probably pretty good.

AEM is not harder than Wharton, but AEM is more competitive in terms of admission compared to the other colleges of Cornell. Maybe apply to Cornell Econ, and try to internally transfer?

Wharton has an undergraduate total of about 5000 students. That is at least roughly 1250 students who get accepted into the program every year. Why is it that Wharton is still more competitive than AEM?

Well the total number of applicants is different. Also, the average person who gets into/applies to Wharton is more competitive than the AEM student.

I remember hearing that the admit rate for AEM is around 8% (which is very low), but Wharton has a similar rate plus they have more competitive applicants. Apply to both, ED to the one you would rather go to.

Also can you tell me about your internship at a financial firm? That’s something I would love to do hahah. PM if you want

If you are freaking out like this means something is wrong.
Go with your gut.
I would say dont waste ED on AEM as the thing about athletes is true. Instead apply to wharton or for some other course in Cornell.
