I got waitlisted ..... I know I can probably get in because I am somewhat a strong applicant and my essay was very good, however if I do get in will I still be eligible for financial aid. There is no way in HELL I can pay $51,000 a year and I needed significant fin. aid to begin with so is it worth trying to get in off the wait list. I am so incredibly sad right now.

I also got waitlisted to newhouse with no 2nd choice. Bummed! do we have a chance of getting any aid being on the waitlist?? I at least thought I would get into the A&S School.

Yep… Wait listed too. Which is weird because with my stats, Syracuse should have been a safety.

Anyways when you’re on the wait list you still qualify for financial aid but NOT merit scholarships since they gave those to people accepted.

Schools have a budget for the amount of FA they give to freshman and since you will still be admitted, you will get FA just like everyone else who got accepted even though you’re on the wait list.

I thought I would at least get the ok for liberal arts and the chance to transfer. I was def on target for that and newhouse was iffy. Visited, had off campus interview, thought I did all the right things. Kids from my school who were behind me grade wise got in. Congrats to the peeps that got in. Do you really think there will be any aid left??

I am currently a student at Syracuse and in Newhouse.

I was wait-listed when I applied last year, eventually was accepted into Newhouse, and got a $25,000 grant.

Nothing is hopeless.

And btw, if you only applied to Newhouse and didn’t list a second option, it doesn’t matter how amazing your stats are, the College of A&S doesn’t accept you unless you added it as a second option.
