i am unsure of the political leanings of the student body, as well of the general acceptance of people that are “quirky”

Not in the political sense. But, it is one of the least mercurial schools you are apt to come across. In general, people don't go to Amherst to become politically active or to raise their consciousness about issues. They read the NYTimes and they study.

Don't listen to the kid from Wesleyan! Amherst is a liberal school, though there is a decent conservative presence. I am very quirky, I think, and I've made some wonderful friends who are also quirky.

Amherst is extremely conservative. We all love free-market capitalism, wars, and police brutality.

"and police brutality." ahhh that part got me to laugh out loud haha

Are there any colleges besides BYU, Baylor and Oral Roberts (and a few fundamentalist Christian ones) that aren't liberal overall? D is conservative, but doesn't matter in the least. She has friends that are liberal and conservative.

You could try the George Dubya Skool of Learnings. Other than that, I don't really know.
