Is an ACT composite score of 27 considered to be a good score?

I took the ACT this year in April, and I'm not about to take it again. I thought the SAT was much easier. But I was just wondering if a 27 is a good score.

Which colleges do you plan on applying to?

An ACT score of 27 is equivalent to a 1220 (out of 1600) SAT.

It depends which schools you’re looking at. You can find out by going to [College MatchMaker - Type of School](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board) and typing the name of the school under the large “College Search” words at the top left. When you get a school, click on the link called “SAT, AP, CLEP”.

I plan on applying to NYU early decision. I realize that a 27 may seem a bit low, since NYU’s middle 50% range begins with a composite score of 29. My Plan B college is Fordham University. I believe a 27 is in their range. But I’m much more concerned about meeting NYU’s criteria.

Is your SAT in NYU’s mid 50% range?

My first SAT score was not. However, I just retook the SAT this month, and I’m expecting to receive my results on June 24.

I’ve seen people with 1550/2400 scores get accepted to NYU because their GPA’s were satisfactory enough.

This leads me to the impression that they favor GPA over SAT.

Your score is very solid.

a 27 doesn’t lie comfortably in the middle 50 for NYU…so if NYU is a top choice of yours, i would recommend retaking.
