Is an EdX course well seen in the application?

Hi everyone!
I want to study physics, and I want to apply to top universities like MIT, UC Berkely, Cornell, Chicago etc.
I’m currently taking an EdX online course at Boston University. The course is about linear sistem of differential equation, and I will get the verified certificate.
How well is seen a course like this on the application?

thanks in advance!

IMO not a whole lot. It doesn’t count like an AP, IB or dual enrollment course.

I haven’t seen any evidence yet that these are considered important for HS students. Perhaps if you are somewhere there are zero resources. It does shows you have interest. I think you should realize that first those colleges look for strong students across the board. to show an interest in math and science they will want to see that you have taken every preparation and advancement available in their school in math and sciences, and through dual enrollment. If the class is taken in preparation for some research activities I think that is more meaningful. Overall I would encourage my student to get involved in student research activities in any area of science.

I was just curious, I know that AP’s are more important
Thanks to all!
