is an interview required?

for all applicants? including reg decision?

No. An interview isn’t even available for everyone. If one is available for you, I would highly recommend that you take advantage of it. I’m really hoping they e-mail me pretty soon.

Technically an interview is “required” (G-Town is one of the very few schools to actually require one). I’m positive there have been accepted applicants without one, but to not accept their opportunity to interview would be foolish.

Required if available, I presume?

Edit: I previously thought this was the Harvard section…lol I already interviewed for Georgetown. But I would have said the same thing.

I believe it is required if available, but they claim to always have availability.

O.o Maybe they have phone interviews then. Because there is no way they have an alumni interviewer on the four corners of the earth.

I received an email assigning me a Georgetown interviewer today. This is what it said:

An important part of Georgetown’s admissions process is an interview with a member of the local Alumni Admissions Committee. Georgetown requires a local alumni interview and the report of your conversation will be received by the Admissions Committee during the evaluation of your application.

It appears that the vast majority of candidates do have available interviews. However, I know of top schools (and I assume Georgetown is the same way) that have interview listed as “required,” but the exception is for those who do not have an interview available because of where they live. Availablity for interview is especially problematic in the many regions overseas from which people apply.

Do any of you guys know if they assign interviews by intended school? Or if they are allowed to?

I don’t think that is the case, Seahawk. It certainly wasn’t the case for me. My GU interviewer and my interviewer from another top school had little knowledge about me and certainly did not know what school I was applying to. My interviewer, in fact, asked me why I chose to apply to the college and not the SFS.

Nevermind, I was lucky enough to get paired with somebody from MSB.

Will Georgetown contact you if they want an interview? Or do you have to arrange one with them? (I’m an international student :p)
