Is an ipod touch worth the investment?

I need a new mp3 player. Obviously apple is the better brand for mp3 players, but they are realllyyy expensiveee and I don't really have that kind of money. The cheapest is probably an ipod shuffle and I hate those. I also don't like the look of the new ipod nano either and it seems they no longer sell the 5th generation.

Should I just buy a mp3 player for $50 or less? Or is it worth it to save for an ipod touch?

I have one and I love it. My previous ipod touch was stolen out of my car, and I missed it so much I went and bought another 2 days later. It’s worth the investment.

Your ROI (return on investment) is the entertainment gained from the iPod. Is it worth $100 more than a generic mp3 player for similar features? Your call.

If you have a cell phone then when you get am upgrade, get an iphone, the used ones aren’t too expensive, or you could buy one off ebay… But ipod touches are great, and once you have one, you’ll be wishing you had an iphone, because killing two birds with one stone is great. But by all means, get the ipod touch, you’ll love the extra features, like sending unlimited text messages, FREE where there’s wifi, and sooooooo many other things! The ipod touch is the way to go, and if you can’t afford one, get a used one, they almost never break anyway, unless the screen cracks when you drop it, and even then, the screen stays in it and so does the plasma, so you can continue using it. Get an iphone, but if you can’t an ipod touch us the way to go.

Deff worth the investment buy a good used one online you could probably get one for 150$

Posted from IPod touch :)

My sister got a phone that lets her store & play songs, which she loves and says lets her substitute that for a separate device for music–consider if your phone has that ability–one less thing to lose or have stolen or broken.

Try sony walkman players. Between the ipod range and the junk range pricewise and in my opinion has much better sound quality. The controls aren’t terrible, no clickwheel, but not bad.

Ipod touch is ABSOLUTELY worth it. I have one for like 2 or 3 years now it still works perfecttly. I simply can’t imagine living without it. I don’t have a smartphone, so the ipod is my only portable wi-fi device, as well as a portable entertainment system with all the music and movies and games. It’s an awesome device!

I use my iPod touch to organize my life. I’m so glad I have one!

I guess I’ve decided that it would be worth the price. XD
So I think I’ve narrowed it down between an Ipod touch, a Sony walkman, or a Zune…

With an ipod I’d have to pay more money for all the apps and I’d have to use itunes. Can anyone tell me why an Ipod touch is better than a Zune or vice versa? Does a Zune have internet access?

We bought a Zune but it was way too LOUD, even at the lowest volume, so we decided to return it to WalMart. Don’t want damaged hearing. :(

With the others there are NO apps, so I wouldn’t complain about having to pay for them, and there are thousands upon thousands of free and useful apps anyway. Plus you don’t have to use itunes… To upload, yes, but not to purchase. By the way, every single post from both of my accounts has been from my ipod touch, using the free CC app(: I had a cousin who had an older ipod but the bought a Zune, after using it for a week, he returned to using his ipod, so yeah.

I have a Zune and I have no idea why HImom says it is to loud…but I have a Zune HD and it has internet access…not as good as an iTouch but thats not what I got it for. Honestly though if you want all the bells and whistles then just save up for the iTouch.

Okay mostly everyone agrees than an ipod touch is better. I agree too hehe. =)

Now for my final question. If you only had $500 saved up from the summer heading into college would you spend half of it on an ipod touch? Or save it to use in college?

Thanks for all the responses so far, guys!

Want to buy mine? It’s the 1st generation one and I think they go for about $70 last time I checked, and I’m going to sell mine anyways since I got a droid. I could also jailbreak it for you if you’re interested.
Spending hundreds of dollars for it is not worth it because you may as well get a smartphone at that point, which would double as the mp3 player.

My son lost a phone while on a ride at 6 Flags , so he got the ipod Touch and is thrilled with it !

I freaking love my iPod Touch. Thats all I can say, but if you can’t afford it, i would skip if it I were you because you may also have to face screen protectors and cases, plus not all apps are free, that can get frustrating

iTouch is sooooo much better. iTunes library is free to download and you can put your own music in it. Buy a 15$ iTunes gift card to create an iTunes account (or use a credit card) and you can download as many free apps as your memory let’s you.
Seriously there is an app for everything, even CC (using it atm)
I’ve had mine for over 3 years and I love it!
Definitely a good investment.

Honestly, I’d go for an iPhone and iPod Classic. but then again I do have over 100 gigs of music…

I agree with pyroza. That’s what I have. However, that being said, I realize the iPhone plan can be pretty expensive. If you want an iPod touch, look for a used or refurbished one online.
