Is anybody familiar with Yale, especially its ecology program, able to talk about it?

While I hold no false pretenses about my odds of actually getting into Yale, I feel like I should get a bit more info about it. I need to pick between here and Princeton soon in order to focus my time for the Early Admission deadline. I’m getting info from both schools, and would like to hear if anybody has anything to say.

I was able to visit Yale and schedule an impromptu appointment with a professor there, though it was during spring break so there were few people there and I didn’t get a ton of time. I stayed in New Haven for the night, as well.

As far as I am aware, Yale has a world-class program, as does Princeton. So what makes Yale a good experience for you?In your opinion, how is the course selection and resources for EEB? The class offerings look significantly better than Princeton, but I would like to hear about the quality of your major.

In addition, how would you describe Yale’s community, both New Haven and interactions with students? I wasn’t able to spend much time looking around, so I would love to hear your opinion on the residential college system if you could, regardless of major. I know that New Haven’s crime aspects are definitely overexaggerated, and while it is not ideal it certainly beats Downtown LA, where I have spent many an afternoon.

I guess what I want to know is how life as an EEB student is at Yale. You can talk about anything, from your favorite professors to your best campus secret. Academics, social aspects, whatever you want. What has Yale offered you that you do not think you will get anywhere else? Thank you so much in advance!
