So, with all these threads of complaining of how people have no friends, it's rather discouraging. I was wondering, is anyone happy with their college choice? Getting along well? Where do you go?

ya! me and my 3 roomates (YES 3) got along SO Well, and its sooo damn easy to make friends like honestly you just go up to people and talk to them its not that hard. If you don’t have anyone to talk to by the end of your first week, then I don’t think you can ever make friends. This is because everyone is very open on the ~first week and want to make friends, so if you miss your chance then I don’t know how you can ever be social.

I’m really happy with my college choice. NYU fits my personality perfectly. I love the city and I love that I’m in the midst of things. I’ve found it easy to meet people. Everyone’s pretty friendly and talkative. My roommates and suitemates and I all get along really well. I just had orientation for my whole major today and all the professors are cool, as are all the other students. I found a dining hall with to-go sushi. I haven’t spent much money.

Yep, all in all I couldn’t ask for a better first week of school.

Good to hear!
Anyone from Cornell, UPenn, UChicago, UMich, Northwestern, or Boston University like to comment? Those are a few of my choices hehe.

well, this is encouraging :)

I moved to Umich on the first and I am loving it. It is kind of hard to find American food at this point, my hall had Japanese yesterday and Indian today so I had to walk to a different one to get a cheeseburger. XD But the food situation is really not bad, it’s definitely doable. I get along with my roommate, the girls down my hall are all really friendly and while I don’t really have any friends yet I am sure I will. I am happy as can be. And my dorm is GREAT! It’s huge and has two windows and three closets for two girls. :)

That’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard.

^^ohh yes i’ve visited Ann Arbor and UMich, Ann Arbor is amazing.

I’m at Cornell. Definitely loving it. Still haven’t really found any close friends yet, but I do have people to chill with and go out with. Weekends are an absolute blast here. I feel more at home every day here and haven’t been homesick at all.

I’m at Michigan State (yay lower level college:) ) I love it so far. Except that I’ve been sick since like I moved in :(.

I’m at Mass college of pharmacy

It will work out in the end, you don’t need to force yourself to greet a stranger you meet at the cafeteria or something. Find someone in your class or in your dorm and things will fall into place. It is much easier to make friends in smaller classes not like those 300 people lectures.

if people had friends, they wouldn’t be on these forums (esp the “college life” subsection).

I know I know, you’re all going to say “look whos talking”.

Then again, BMW drivers have no friends. Just associates.

@zfanatic: yeah i was definitely impressed by the students’ charisma at Cornell

I am!

Love my roomie, met some really great people and a potential BF, and am auditioning for the dance company tonight!

^ i’m so happy for you!!! :)

what things do people do for fun? like activities wise, whether formal, informal, school clubs, or just hanging out?

I love college so far! I’ve made great friends, am in an awesome location, and it’s just so great. College isn’t what I expected, but in a way it’s so much better. Really, it doesn’t take too much effort to make the experience worthwhile.

cornell is perfect. literally it could not be any better. its ridiculous.

My sophomore year is about to start, and I feel like I’m getting ready to go back to Hogwarts. I’m that excited. Tiny little school; wasn’t my first choice or the most prestigious school for my major, but I absolutely love it.

Yeah I’m happy as **** right now
im the ****

yaaaaay celebrate!

I’m at Colorado College, living in a single, and everything is amazing. I have many great friends, the food is great, the hiking/camping is good, and the academics are challenging. Everything I expected :] Far better than high school ever was.
