I'm going to attend the LSP @ Florence in this fall. This will be the freshman year and everything is exciting and mysterious to me. Is anyone going to the same place with me? Does anyone like to share some advice about LSP @ Florence?
Heartfelt Thanks!

I am, and I’m most probably going… have you joined the facebook group?

No, not yet, I have some problems to log in recently…
may I ask where you are from?

I’m from Cairo, Egypt… what about you?

I got accepted to LSP Florence too. But I’m still deciding between 2 schools.

I’m from Beijing, China:)
Have you received any invitation to summer academy programs? I’m not sure if i should join this.

which two ?

i’m still choosing between which colleges to go to, but i’m now leaning towards the LSP Florence program too.

I was also invited for the summer program in Shanghai, but i just checked, and i’m pretty sure the deadline has past. I have a feeling that they only invite people from the China area (i’m from Hong Kong) to prepare for like, an international classroom or something.

Have any of you heard more about the LSP Florence program from alums?

eleuthera-
I’m choosing between NYU LSP and U of Rochester.

jenniferc-
hey I’m from Hong Kong too! But I wasn’t invited to the summer program in Shanghai… maybe it’s because I’m already studying in the US.

tangen: wow thats such a coincidence!
i’m also in a boarding school in the states =)
And yeaup. I’m still choosing between colleges: Sarah Lawrence and NYU LSP. And if URochester accepts me from waitlist then i’ll have to choose from that too.

I’m still really unsure about the LSP… I really don’t like the whole curriculum since we basically don’t choose majors until junior year. But again i can just take Florence like a gap year. Now wouldn’t that be amazing?

What do you all think? What makes you consider LSP?

jenniferc-
This is so cool! And yeah I’m having quite a hard time choosing between my 2 schools. I like U of Rochester because I like the fact that I can choose all my courses. And I really like their campus too.
I don’t really like the curriculum of LSP because we have a fixed schedule in freshman year. But being in Florence is so appealing to me. I sent NYU an email and the admissions staff told me that we can choose courses starting our sophomore year. I want to major in psychology and the staff told me that I can take psychology courses during my sophomore year.

i can’t believe I am not the only one from Hong Kong that’s going to florence…
I am really surprised. I thought I am going to be alone
(btw, I am in New York)

tangen: I want to major in psychology as well. It frustrates me that I can’t choose courses about psychology in the first year and I must push it off to the sophomore year. But I still decideded on NYU, because I think this can be another way of learning. I want to open my mind and perceive widely through this experience, meanwhile I will be able to learn so many things that I can never learn by reading books or listening to lectures. And I believe this would definitely be helpful for my future psychology study. Are you 100% sure with you major? I’m not that sure right now, so I just tell myself that the more I see, the clearer I am with my position. I did struggled between UCSD and NYU for a long time because UCSD is one of the best univerisities on psychology in States. I dont know if I’ve made the right decision, but I know that if I don’t go to NYU, I would be entangled by "What if…"s in the next four years. So I replied NYU admission office and this is how I made my decision : )

I don’t know much about UR. I remember it is great on art.

I’ve jointed it and it seems that most of them are international students. The admission officer told me that the ratio of local States students to international students is half-half.

eleuthera-
I think I’m almost positive that I want to major in psychology.
wow ratio of local States students to international students is 50:50? That’s a lot of international students!

wow this is SUCH a coincidence no kidding.
i never actually knew there were so many internationals in Florence!

I actually think i’m gonna pick Florence… i mean who else can really say that they got to study abroad in Florence their freshmen year right? I feel similar to eleuthera too, like if i don’t take this chance i’ll just keep wondering what could’ve been.

What have all you guys decide for next year?

hey guys, who knows well about NYU Abu Dhabi?

jenniferc-
I think I’m pretty much all set on NYU LSP
I’m excited to go to FLorence!

confidential2015-
sorry I don’t really know much about NYU Abu Dhabi. But I heard that applicants go through a long process and they actually have to go to Abu Dhabi for an interview or a session or something

tangen- that’s so cool! see you in florence =)

I’ve received a letter from Abu Dhabi just after finishing the SAT. It promises to give full scholarship for 4 years and a free tour to visit the campus. It is a newly founded university by NYU.
