Both of my daughters will be applying to SMC. Just curious if anyone else other there in CC land will also be.

It's quite a bit after you've posted, but yes, I plan to apply. I'm going to apply early decision. They've promised me a lot of money, so I'm hoping I can really learn to fall in love with this school just in case they give me an offer I can't refuse :)

pink panther have you visited? If you like small, beautiful campuses it may become an easy sell. I am assuming you met the criteria for the Presidential and Trustee's scholarship??? Congratulations! My DDs are both keeping their fingers crossed...and prepping for ACT in the hopes of be eligible for those two awards too.

Best of luck falling in love :) My nephew goes there and is having a wonderful time!

I attended their summer preview day and I did love the environment. I am not crazy about how unbalanced the female:male ratio is, and i'd like the student body SLIGHTLY bigger, but I'm sure that's not hard to get used to. They just opened a new science building so I'm excited to go back in October to see it.

I just have to raise my SAT's 150 points to get the 22,000 scholarship. That's a LOT of money considering it's guaranteed! Plus that doesn't even include financial aid, and the representative I talked to said that if you can get that scholarship, they will do whatever they can to help you with aid. I love their 4-1-4 schedule too, and their dorms are very nice. I want to go back and visit and maybe go to a basketball game, see if their school spirit is enough for me I come from a HUGEEEE high school very well known for football, so I wouldn't be happy anywhere where kids wouldn't be proud of their school

My cousin went there and simply loved it. I'm also looking at their rivels, Santa Clara :P From what my cousin said, it's a VERY different experience.

Good luck with that 150 points. For my girls it will be a few of ACT points. One took the test last Sat for the first time, both are retaking in October. I think you will find that the "Gael Force" makes for some really spirited basketball games!

The rivalry w/ SCU seems to extend past the college years into adulthood for some. MySIL and BIL both attended as well and since they live in the Bay Area run into a lot of SCU alum. Mostly the banter is friendly but it can get snipey as well. Again, good luck!
