Is anyone else at ELITE this summer?

You’re ~16. Do you really still need a babysitter?

^^It’s ironic because you are paying a dollar per point (or more accurately, $10 for 10 points).

^loolololol couldn’t have said it better myself.

Calm down Ilyana, I’m saying its stupid to pay 2700 dollars for something you can do by yourself. And you can’t self study because of personal issues? Have you never read a book by yourself? Is there a person always holding your hand and reading them at loud to you?

^her parents were killed by self studying, don’t ya kno?

I did a PSAT class in 9th, winter boot camp in 9th, and summer of 10th. I also took AP Chem and chem tutoring.

The SAT classes are only worth it if you aren’t going to study on your own. Which you won’t.

I have Morning Boot Camp. :P

I am definitely going to Elite right now. Ugh, it’s annoying but it was sooo much money that I have to take it seriously!

This thread is an archetypal CC thread. All I see is: “I’m superior to you because of this, this, this, this and this…” Just because some of you guys have Tiger Moms doesn’t mean the world is inferior. :)

"You’re ~16. Do you really still need a babysitter? "

Clearly. ;)

"Calm down Ilyana, I’m saying its stupid to pay 2700 dollars for something you can do by yourself. And you can’t self study because of personal issues? Have you never read a book by yourself? Is there a person always holding your hand and reading them at loud to you? "

Normally I would say something controversial such as “you have clearly never gone through anything major in your life”, but I’ll spare you that and let you know that sometimes things happen. I’m under no obligation to tell you what.

And I actually really enjoy books. :D

Two vocabulary quizzes and the mock SAT today…

Oh sorry I missed this post:

"It’s ironic because you are paying a dollar per point (or more accurately, $10 for 10 points). "

That’s not ironic at all… (I really like wit so I’m trying my hardest to understand it, but I don’t see it. 0_0)

^ Why so mean? They are just making the point that it’s a hell of a lot of money to spend for a SAT camp.

my friend is doing it
he says it’s nothing compared to the homework he goes at regular school lol

^^
Sorry. I realize I’m getting extremely defensive but that tends to happen. They’re making personal attacks as well (funny how those are my buttons…), not just stating the point.

Another thread from Ilyana

"Well in 9th grade, I had an undiagnosed case of double depression (chronic depression AND a major depressive episode) and was bullied at school. Couple those together, and I started missing school. I missed about thirty - forty days (insane right?) before the third quarter was even over. Surprisingly though, half my grades were As, most were Cs, and only two were Fs. I soon got a therapist and began to get my life back on track. However, my school called me in and decided that according to school policy, missing more than ten days of a class constitutes an automatic F (despite the fact that I was actually doing better than most of my peers in these classes, and that my teachers absolutely adored me).

Because of this, my school decided to let me go. They didn’t do this as a harsh expulsion, but because they knew I couldn’t get better at their school as long as they couldn’t do anything to stop the bullying.

I’m a Sophomore now, and my life has been great lately. I’m getting fabulous grades and not missing school for anything. However, the fact that I got expelled from my last school still haunts me, and I don’t know how it will affect my chances into mid-tier to top-tier colleges. "

I do not see how this constitutes a reason for not being able to open up a SAT book and do practice tests at your desk, but rather you can only do that in a classroom where you were originally bullied in…

And not to further be mean, but I am pretty sure competitive colleges are no longer an option once you have been expelled…

Well obviously you were going to pull that out.

Funny, turns out I wasn’t expelled. In fact my old school had a lot of information backwards and they said they would still write an excellent supplement rec. I posted that when I didn’t have the full story. Nice try.

Also, I’m not stupid enough to put my whole life sorry on a forum, especially when there are people like you that get a thrill out of getting information There are parts of that story that you don’t know, and again, I’m under no obligation to tell you.

Now stop hijacking my thread. I won’t respond from here on out.

Sorry, I’ll state the point clearly now. ELITE is for lazy people who have not developed their OWN study habits in order to succeed on a standardized test.

And yes, witty sir, it is ironic that you pay $2400 for a test that’s 2400 points. If you don’t get it, there’s not much I can do.

And the thread hijacking continues…

Surely, since you guys are clearly superior, you will eventually realize that this thread isn’t for you guys. Adios.

If it makes everyone feel better, I made a 32 on my ACT without spending a dime(except to pay for the test)

Is anyone else wasting their time and money this summer?

I am going to Elite this summer  I think the teachers know what they’re doing and my parents are willing to dish out the cash
