All the options seem very hard to write about.

@072697,
Actually right now I’m writing my essay for Andover. I’m doing the one about something you were sure of, but are not sure of anymore. Now St. Paul’s essay was a challenge…

^Thats the topic for my essay too! Lol, it’s weird, for me, St.Paul’s were the easiest.

I chose the research project option, and outlined a hypothetical research project on brane theory. It was pretty difficult, but I worked hard on it, so I think it turned out pretty good.

*brain theory, and am I missing out on anything? The essays are 200-400 words and about goals and similarly vague topics, is this something else I missed?

"Please answer one of the questions below in 500 words or fewer.

A. Discuss a matter you once thought you knew “for sure” but of which you are no longer certain.
B. Imagine you win a grant to invent and design a “must-have” gadget/tool for a boarding school-bound student. What would your invention be and why would it be a “must have” item? You have two ways to respond: you may describe your gadget/tool in written text OR you may draw an advertisement for this product on an 8.5 X 11-inch sheet of paper and mail it.
C. Imagine the year is 2060 and you are sitting down to write an autobiography. What would it be called and why? For what would you most like to be remembered?
D. Imagine you are a member of Phillips Academy’s student group sponsoring the Green Cup Challenge, a competition among boarding schools to promote conservation in campus-wide energy use. What initiatives would you propose to reduce energy use on campus and how would you engage your fellow students in this competition?
E. If you were given one day and a budget of $1,000 to make a difference in your community, what would you do? Whom would you involve? What would you hope to achieve?
F. Imagine you are asked to do a one-year research project in either your history/social science or science class. What kind of research project would you design and what would you hope to learn?"

wow. I found the St. Pauls ones very easy. I guess I’m much better at “story telling” – which was mainly what I did for SPS. I cannot seem to figure out what to write for andover.

No, it’s “brane”. It’s from string theory. Has absolutely nothing to do with “brain”.

@072697,
That’s my biggest problem as well. My Andover essay is practically a story. ( I chose topic A)

The first essay for Andover would be my top choice, but I have no idea what to write for it. Was yours serious or funny?

@072967,
Mine was really serious, but I think it was good. I’ll post it on the “Post your Essays for Future Applicants” thread once decisions come out. What did you write about?

I haven’t gotten to the Andover essay yet. I’m saving it for last because they aren’t due until february.

which one you talking about ? st.paul essay? which topic is that?

Im also applying Tunis PA, I chose the topic about the autobiography because my life is a bit unusual ;)))
Haha anyways what grades are you appying to? Im applying to 11th grade and I DONT want others to apply so I can be 100% sure that I get in!!!

ahhh I can’t pick a topic for Andover! And quick question, for topic B (the invention one) are they saying we can draw instead of the essay all together?

The Andover essays are actually my favorite. ^^ I find SPS’s more difficult.

@farisM …hey !Im applying for eleventh grade too.so i guess ur not the only one but ull get in because im not really counting on it unless a miracle happens

Wow, never knew I had fellow aspirers… How ya’ll doing? I don’t talk like that, but anyway:
Um, I picked A yesterday, but I FORGOT WHAT I WAS GOING TO WRITE ABOUT! Plus, they changed the questions for 2013 applicants. Except for Question A. :)

@sushmitak, have you considered applying as repeat Sophomore? Have you had your interviews yet? Would be worthwhile to broach the topic in the interview to see what the AO’s advise.

Wait what? This is scaring me lol…one of my essay choices for Andover is writing an autobiographical story about yourself, which is what I’m doing…am I missing something? Please answer…
