Is anyone else having trouble with their hs?

Ughh my school is SO annoying.

First they said that they will only fill out enough applications for 3 colleges - ie I'm only allowed to apply to 3 overseas universities which is BULL.
But Im somehow trying to work around that (i dont know how tho)- i'm planning to apply to 8 or 9 uni's overseas.

Then my 'councellor' looked at the common application teacher/councilor/midyear/endofyear evaluation sheets and said that she has no time to fill it out and that I have to take it up to the higher office.
Now this random teacher's (i dont even know if he's a teacher) gonna fill out my common app - he doesnt even know me, i do not even know him.

I requested for 2 teacher recs but I found out that after the teachers finish them, they hand it in to the office, and someone else REWRITES my recs so they are compiled into 1 rec - which is bloody damn stupid!
And so I asked for it to be not rewritten and they said, "it's already been done. And we've thrown out the 2 original copies, sorry"
(ughhh!!)
Now I have to ask my subject teachers to write for the common app AGAIN because I simply cant use that rewritten rec because apparently, that will go under councillers report?!

My councilr doesnt want me to disclose her phone number or her email address on any of my overseas applications - WHY?! Teachers are so weird!

I have 5 mistakes on my mid year report, where all 5 of those grades are supposed to be higher by a significant amount. I asked my teachers to change it and they said THE GRADES CANT BE CHANGED on the school computer system right now - they simply dont understand that my mid year grades are reviewed overseas (here, it's just the final grades). So now, I have 5 faulty grades on my mid year report - (eg as bad as something like a C, that's supposed to be an A). And now few of my teachers think I'm this uptight conceited weirdo who freaks about 'pointless' midyear grades.

And in addition, I asked the random teacher-person whose filling out my common app to write a formal statement for the faulty 5 grades but he cringed and said that its REDUNDANT.
I pleaded and asked him to write it but I swear, he will forget or he wont do it just for the sake of ruining a student's life. (he's got that kinda rep).

I was planning to apply Early, but now, I dont even think I can. He said that he'll try to finish it as soon as possible.. around about the first week of november. And I bet you he wont!

Has anyone been having trouble with their schools?

Can't you just write the recs yourself and then have the teacher/counselor sign them, if they're so low on time?
Also, you don't really need an official transcript, write one yourself, get it stamped by a secretary or smth, and you're all done.

Since they seem to be so unaware of the us system, I don't see why they'd mind about you writing everything. If you were from a major exporting school, things would be different

Well I wouldnt say we're not a major exporting school.. but we're pretty up there..
As far as I know, there are about 40/400 students considering education in the states.
THe teachers just do not really like special requirements, extra work and what not.

Thanks for the tip about the official transcript thing. I'll ask about that tomorow. But I really dont think I can pull off the rec thing..

I won't support writing the recs yourself, they are of no use if you write them yourself. Even if you do so adcoms might catch it.
Getting Counselors recs is the most difficult part in my admission process. She hates me; & I hate her enough to kill her. I doubt she will right something good about me.

You can't write the transcript yourself, it needs to be on the school letterhead.

if it's got a stamp and signature it's quite ok

yeah...negru is right

this situation happened to me when i was applying to US schools when i finished high school. Teachers+counselors were apathetic, and counselor even hated me for getting her more work, she got so frustrated and wrote a very generic rec. and she also says "i do not know this student well....". I tried everything to work around it, i even wrote a letter to explain my situation. Didn't help. I was ***ed and i got rejected by all the schools that i had applied to.
I only had 1400/1600 on SAT I and 700/800 avg on SAT II
However, if you have 2250+ SATs, 750+ SAT IIs
and stellar ECs, i don't see how school will affect your chance that much.
Best of Luck!

:( ok newby you just scared me.

The transcript is supposed to be prepared by the school on a school letterhead. If you submit your own stamped version and colleges receive a transcript from your classmate on a school letterhead they will get suspicious.

ooooohhkkkk then I will definetly have to get it on a letterhead then.. because i know quite a few ppl applying to my schools..
Can I get them to put it on a letterhead, then photocopy them myself?

Yup that's fine, just keep in mind that each photocopy must be attested by your GC and sent through your school.

Cant I send them in myself?
Or do I have to get the school to directly send them? Because I dont think they'd want to..

I've been having so much trouble with my f**** school! I'm sorry but I have to release some frustration! Councelor's rec sucked! The way she converted my grades! She didn't know how to do it so she used the system of elementary school! Now I have a B average when I'm supposed to have an A average and a bunch of C's when I should only have some B's..Then I had a whole lot of trouble to get the stamped envolopes and they wouldn't even let the councelor make photocopies!!! It's been such a frustrating day...I'm realy depressed because I've put so much work into it and now I've seen it blown away by an irresponsable school councelor and a cheap school...But if I get accepted to a good school by any miracle, I can bet that they're going to use me as propaganda...Jerks! And by the way, I'm sending the rec's myself..they're in sealed envelopes..

Nah, It must be sent via the school with recs, although if your counselor gives them(recs & transcript) to you in a sealed envelope with his/her sign on the flap you could send it as well. Use common app if your school insists that it would allow you to apply to only 4 colleges. Your GC can then just xerox her recs and mail them. If that's also not possible then most of the colleges would accept Recs in form of a letter instead of the Form from your GC.

Recs are very important part of your app, so talk to your GC about your situation. Bring your parents in if she's still adamant about it. We don't pay them for this..

I'm gonna do the whole seal-envelope-with-signature thing.
because I've already ****ed the school off a bit too much..

I hate my school - the admins, the counselor, the everyhting.
