All my life I planned on going to the University of Florida. My family has orange and blue blood, and I was pretty sure that's simply where I was going to go.

But when I actually applied to schools, I also applied to Cornell, Dartmouth, and Yale (Deferred EA), and UNC-CH(Accepted). I was accepted to UF, but I'm merely waiting now to see if I can get into Cornell or Dartmouth (I'm simply waiting for a reject from yale).

It seems like all my friends already have their apartments in gainesville, and have visited and go to Gainesville all the time now...and im just sitting back waiting, having no idea what to do. If I don't get into any of the ivy leagues, I'm going to UF, it's as simple as that. But in the meantime, we are forced to wait, and endure a longer time of uncertainty than I see of my peers.

And then in the meantime, I'm not sure whether or not to send in the 200 dollar housing contract...which is due by March 12, and Ivies don't give decisions out to the 29th. Do I send it in, knowing I won't go to UF if I get into Cornell or Dartmouth? It's questions like these that bother me...

Has this happened to anyone else? just wondering if neone has a similar situation....

isnt it obvious lol..send in the 200 dollars. If u dont get into ivies then great. If you do get into the ivies im sure no one will mind losing 200 dollars if u got into a school ike COrnell or Dartmouth. And more importantly, why would u choose UF over UNC-CH which is a great school and probably has more national acclaim academically then UF

I would choose UF probably just because of Bright Futures, which covers 100% of tuition, and it's closeness to home. While I would travel far to go to Cornell or Darmouth, in my mind football, closeness, some of of high school friends, and free tuition, weighs in favor for UF for me personally a little bit more than UNC, although it is an awesome school...and ranked higher in its pharmacy program (which I plan to major in..)

I'm still deciding between 5 schools, so I can't send in my deposits either. it is hard to wait... but do you really want to just throw away 200?

I'm in a similar situation...I applied to some LACs and Yale and, while I assume I'll get into at least one, I also applied to the University of Iowa, just to be safe. I got a letter saying that if I didn't apply for housing by February 15, I'd end up in temp housing, so I applied (with the deposit, some of which is refundable) because I figured that I'd be depressed enough if I didn't get into the schools I wanted, and not having a place to live would only make it worse.

Don't be silly - send in the $200 deposit. If you cancel before May 1, they will keep $35 and refund the rest. Read the housing contract for the details. If you don't send it in and you end up attending UF, you'll be screwed for getting a dorm. If you get one at all, it's likely to be a triple. $35 is a small price to pay to make sure you get a dorm.

Quick question... When I got my e-mail from TCNJ it did not specifically say deferred or wait-listed, simply take a "second review" at your application. What does that mean? Is that good or bad?
