Is anyone familiar with the EOP?

We were told by our counselor that applying for EOP could possibly help as far as admission.

Does anyone know if it does help to apply for EOP or if the applicant just goes through the normal process and "'if'" you are admitted to the school then they decide if you are admitted to EOP Program?

Or do you possibly get admitted to EOP first and then your application is already flagged that you were admitted to EOP already?

Had trouble finding the answer to the same question until i caught this on one of the pages on the SDSU EOP webpage.

What is EOP?

@NYYanks - I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your detailed answer both here and in the other EOP thread!

SDSU EOP never answered my question on positive impact of application if applying for EOP.

I don’t think it has to do with preference at admissions. I applied for the EOP and i was accepted. I called the EOP office to see if i was accepted into the program and the counselor told me that they don’t start reviewing applications until March 31.

I’m happy my daughter was accepted; below is the email she recd yesterday:

“Congratulations! You have been accepted into the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) at San Diego State University (SDSU). I would like to welcome you on behalf of EOP staff and students. In the next week, you will receive an official acceptance letter in the mail, which will include information for admission, housing, EOP Summer Bridge Program, EOP First Contact, and New Student Orientation.”
