Is anyone here a varsity swimmer?

If so, can I PM you with some boring questions? Nothing personal, just some technical swimming stuff that you'd know about. Thanks. :]

hmm.... I'm not a varsity swimmer, but I swam age-group competitively for 8 years, and I still go to my sisters meets. so I can probably help if you PM me.

Yes, I am. I was also on the varsity diving team.

I'm on the varsity swim team :D.... I'm nothing special, but I've been swimming since 6th grades, but I've had so much medical issues so I'm not as good as I could be. However, I am on the varsity team

varsity capt. here

i'm not, but a lot of my good friends are... i have a question:
does shaving your body hair really help you swim faster?! cuz my guy friends all just shaved their heads for a huge competition becuz they said it made them swim better! is that really true?

it reduces drag so it makes you go just slightly faster.
shaving heads would probably make a difference, but the people who do things like eyebrow shaving are just crazy.

I think it as a more team bonding experience where you are give up one thing together. Shaving your heads it does. My team does not shave their legs till WPIALs, so they can swim faster.

well.. they like, shaved heads, backs, legs, arms. etc.
and they all look so DIFFERENT now!! :(

shaving your body reduces drag and while it might make you maybe .1 sec faster, that could be a huge difference. it's especially noticable at the higher levels where most people have close times
