I am about 4/13 courses done with my lower division work. I am done with GE's But i was wondering if it was a good idea to transfer?

First year?

well I did not decide on my major till It was time to apply

4/7 completed.

and still transferring kirbs?

I still have 3 classes to complete before I SHOULD be able to transfer, but I got in everywhere anyway (UCLA and Berkeley, etc). I’m not going to stick around to take them, I’m transferring right away. I’ll probably be at UCLA for a couple quarters before I become a true Junior. I transferred as a physics major, which is very unimpacted (70% admit rate at UCLA), so I don’t think they cared much that I haven’t completed everything, they were just thrilled that someone actually WANTS to major in physics. If you’re majoring in something impacted, like Business at Cal, Business economics at UCLA, or communications anywhere, then you should complete all your lower division prereqs, or they won’t even give you a chance.

I didn’t finish all of my lower division work for art, but I got into UCSC and UCSB in the art major. I’ve been accepted at Berkeley too, but I still have to see what they will say when I declare my major. There are a ton of art classes that they want you to take for lower division. It almost doesn’t seem fair.

fall '10 transfer

i need to take like 5 math classes for ucsd. ■■■.

BMop you saying you got in to UCLA/UCB w/o getting breadth done by spring? Where these classes your CC didn’t offer?

No, I’ve completed the IGETC. UCLA requires 10 additional lower division classes for my major. Eight were available at my CC, 5 of which I completed. The last two must be taken at UCLA (as required by UCLA, not allowed to transfer them). Maybe I’m wrong, but I thought I had to have all THOSE classes completed as well to earn Junior standing.
Most majors require all major prereqs to be finished prior to transfer, but since I applied for an unimpacted major, it wasn’t a problem.

But yeah, breadth is completely finished.

I can either do 2 extra quarters at the UC or a whole another year at the CC.

Ive been told there is no formal unit cap for UCI so i think i would be fine transferring. I am going to graduate with close to 200 units. Is graduating with 200 units too much?
