I’m considering commuting (I live about 16 miles away). Have you looked into UCLA’s vanpool shuttles?

http://www.transportation.ucla.edu/apps/gen_apps/vanpool/vans.asp

Some people from SGV commute, so it’s definitely doable.

The vanpools are okay as long as the hours fit with your schedule. Keep in mind that the majority of vanpool riders are UCLA employees, so vans are scheduled around an 8-5 schedule. So you’ll need to catch the van pretty early in the morning (pickups are probably around 7 in the morning) and you have to be ready to go home at 5 pm. So if you’re in study groups that meet late, you’ll either have to miss them, or find another way home those nights.

If anyone lives in Irvine, and is commuting to UCLA, we can partner up and carpool…
