My junior D and I are visiting this weekend and will tour on Monday morning. She is very interested in the school, but as a Southern girl, is not sure she can bear the weather--and this weekend will certainly be the acid test!

My daughter is a senior, and Skidmore is one of the schools she's applied to. If she (and your daughter) end up at Skidmore, I honestly believe they'll handle the weather just fine. They're young! ... Also, I think it's great that your daughter is willing to look north for college. Where we're from (Kentucky), I'd guess about 95% of the kids are staying close to home or heading south. Eh. Youth is a great time to be adventurous, even if it means dealing with horrific winters! ... Best of luck to your daughter. I hope the extraordinary beauty of Skidmore is apparent, even under a mountain of snow. Have fun!

i'm a freshman here at Skidmore and i know a few people from the South and they're all doing fine, even through the near-blizzard we had on Valentine's day that gave us about 30". i hope you have a good trip and tour, just watch your step! (the dining hall tends to get slippery with all the snow)
