Hey! Is anyone waiting to hear on Feb 15th? I wonder if we will hear earlier than that date.

yeah, I applied for the expedited decision deadline and am waiting to hear on the 15th as well. is that when letters go in the mail, or the day we are expected to receive them?

I don’t have any idea when we can expect them. It looks like the EDII students heard a few days before their deadline.

we’re waiting, too. NJMom, my D has exact same SAT 1 total as yours! We will probably be on vacation when the letter arrives. This will be the first school she hears from. I think a rejection now would be even tougher than if she got an ED rejection in December, because at least she could send more apps then!!

SDonCC - PM me and tell me what other schools your D or is it S has applied. It looks like our kids have a few schools in common. I totally agree with you on rejection - many of my D’s friends seem to know where they are going and she has heard and has only one acceptance so far from our state school which she is totally not excited about -even though she did receive a free ride.

Totally agree about the anxiety level of word from Brandeis. I think it might be her perfect school.

Hi, is this like early decision? Or just early notification? (I applied RD). It’s the first I’ve heard of it!

Edit - never mind, I just saw that you had to be invited specially.

I’m waiting for it too. I forgot what date the decisions were being released (I just knew it was mid-February), so I’m glad I found this thread.
Good luck to everyone.

My daughter also submitted the “invited” application and is waiting for the Feb. 15 decision. Best of luck to all of the applicants.

It is so great of Brandeis to offer this expedited decision. We are hoping for some merit money with it?!?! D has applied to 10 schools, heard from 2, then Brandeis, then 7 more on April 1st. It will be nice to get a nice big yes from Brandeis as I think it would be an excellent school for her. Good luck to all.

Wish the Brandeis threads were a little more active!

We also appreciate the expedited decision option, as well as the associated application fee waiver. We’re also hoping for merit aid. Since D had submitted some rolling and/or EA applications, she’s already received some acceptances…the remainder will probably come late next month. I agree, this is a pretty laid back subforum, but I expect it will liven up in the days following the 15th.:)

Does anyone know if it will come by email or mail? If it comes in the middle of our vacation, and it’s a no, that will really put a damper on things. I’m guessing Brandeis as a match for my D, but we have so little Naviance data on it.

My D did not apply early anywhere, so the only bad thing about this expedited decision for us was that her essay really wasn’t in tip top shape yet. So, like I told NJMom, if she gets rejected, I’m going to blame it on that and try to think positive until April…

SDonCC, as far as I know, Brandeis delivers its decisions only via snail mail. I think (and if anyone else knows otherwise, please correct me) they will send them out on the 15th, but then again, that’s also President’s Day and the post offices will, of course, be closed that day, so I imagine that people won’t start receiving them until later in the week, at the earliest…? So, hopefully it won’t impact your vacation. In any case, best of luck to your daughter. :)

Just confirming momonthehill’s post: D’s decision last year came via snail-mail only. Good luck to those awaiting Feb 15 decisions!

Can someone explain the expedited decision? Is that like EDII or is it something you are invited to submit? Is it binding?

applicants were invited to submit by December 15th for a decision by Feb. 15th decision, non-binding.

what qualifies you for an expediated decision?? PSATS?

Oh. If you weren’t invited, is that bad news? How do they find you to invite you if you haven’t applied yet?

It’s not bad news. I think they send out a fair share of them for a mixture of reasons. I got one, but I believe it is because when Brandeis sent a rep to my school I was the only kid who showed up, so I sat with the rep for 45 minutes discussing Brandeis. Then a few weeks later I got a postcard. My friend from my school also received one, but he never went to a Brandeis information session so his must’ve been for another reason. If you use it, you pretty much have to use the Brandeis website to apply, you can’t do a Common App because there is no choice to apply using the Common App.

I received the invitation too and applied for the expedited decision. I spoke to the Brandeis representative about it when she visited my school in November. She said that any students who have expressed interest in the school either by visiting campus, meeting with a rep, or requesting more information online receive the expedited decision. She also told me that you can apply using Common App, even though there is no option to click. You just have to select Regular Decision and choose the appropriate a fee waiver.
I’m so nervous!! I just want to get it over with! Good luck to everyone!

my D got this whole elaborate mailing for the invited thing, and also something by email. I assumed it was based on SAT scores, although her twin, also a high SAT scorer, did not get the invited app but it has been pretty common that my kids seem to have gotten on different schools’ mailing lists. Both my kids visited and interviewed.

Well, not worth analyzing now.
