Is AP Calculus AB similar to IB SL math?

Hi everyone,

Is AP Calculus AbB similar to the 2 year course of IB SL math?

Thanks!

Nooooo. Not at all. In Calculus AB you learn Calculus. In IB Math 1 SL, you learn statistics. In IB Math 2 SL, you learn more statistics and how to take a derivative.

O... I see, thanks!
If i want to move from Pre-IB standard to IB higher... what should i do?

Take Calculus over the summer or something. I only go into IB HL and FL math because I took Calc AB my sophomore year.

Thanks!
But precisely what Calculus course?

Our IB HL and AP BC classes are the same class. So I'm taking the BC exam at the end of this year and the HL exam at the end of next year.

BC doesn't prepare you for HL.

IB SL doesn't have much calc on it and we don't have an IB math course other than HL. thus, people take it in my school after AB and BC. my schedule doesn't allow me to take it this year when im taking AB calc, so im taking it next year. don't know what math im doing yet.

SL does have some calc in it, but not as much as actual Calc. That doesn't make it necessarily easier though. I took Math SL last year and I'm talking Calc AB this year.

We covered a lot of SL in our precalculus class.

If you've taken AP Calc AB, you know everything in SL.

Stats + BC is essentially HL.
