Is AP Computer Science A hard to self-study or learn through an online course?

I think you should just take the most awesome classes. And AP Computer Science is AWESOME. So take it. =D

I’ve heard that there are two different tests for computer science, A and AB. However, I only saw computer science A listed on the college board website. I’m really confused now. Could someone please explain? Thank you.

^ AB was discontinued.

Java is pretty easy, why don’t you try a youtube video aimed at AP Comp Sc. students.
[Java in 4 hrs - Step by Step Video Tutorial - YouTube](<a href=“Java Tutorial for Beginners - Made Easy - Step by Step - YouTube”>Java Tutorial for Beginners - Made Easy - Step by Step - YouTube) and check out if you are upto it?

Hi, I am promoting something in this post. I have created a Java video tutorial covering the requirements(Java subset) of the AP Computer Science A exam.
It’s made in an easy to follow step by step manner. It’s only 4 hrs long, and every topic is covered in detail.
Every concept is taught using a simple program. There is also a small project to tie everything up.
I have 1.5 hrs of the 4 hr toutorial free at [Java in 4 hrs - Step by Step Video Tutorial - YouTube](<a href=“Java Tutorial for Beginners - Made Easy - Step by Step - YouTube”>Java Tutorial for Beginners - Made Easy - Step by Step - YouTube)
I assure everyone who watches the video, you will ace the AP Computer Science exam or I will refund the money.
Go ahead and give the sample chapters a try.
Take a look at the 16th part class and object just to get a hang of it here [P16 Class & Object - Java in 4 hrs step by step - YouTube](<a href=“P16 Class & Object - Java in 4 hrs step by step - YouTube”>P16 Class & Object - Java in 4 hrs step by step - YouTube)
Also, how to go about preparing for the exam is at [Patrick Videos](http://www.patrickvideos.com/#!ap-cs-exam/cctf)

APCS isn’t offered at my high school, but I wanted to take it at the nearby community college (assuming I get in). I am quite confused as to which semester course I am most qualified for. I have taken a high school level intro to java course a couple of years ago over the summer, but I haven’t used it in a while. I was thinking that COMSC-110 Introduction to Programming was most appropriate, but I want to make sure I wouldn’t need COMSC-100 Introduction to Computers and Information Systems. Thanks! The course catalogue is here http://www.dvc.edu/org/info/schedules/pdfs/coursesSP13.pdf</a></p>

As long as your actually motivates for the actual class its self, but do realize that just knowing the theory will not help you score well on the AP Computer Science Exam. You should also note that getting a good grade on that AP Exam also requires you to have some java problem solving skills built from experience with coding on your own time mostly.
I realize this thread is old but for anyone reading this I recommend taking this class for the reason that it both fun! and will improve your problem solving skills.

same!
