I'm a junior taking the class and I hate it. I mean it's easy and all but I only chose it because it would look good on my transcript. I have little to no interest in the subject. Then again, its one of the only 3 APs I'm taking this year. So I don't know how much dropping it will hinder my application to my state university. That being said, what do you think? Should I drop it and enjoy Junior w/o the stress or just take it because it's AP?

I also took it my junior year just for the weighted credit. I didn’t really like the class, only took it for the teacher, however, I have actually found the content quite useful in many if my other classes. Human Geography is heavily based around it, Biology is easier. I know the content may be boring, because it was for me and I actually like school, but I think the content is actually very beneficial to know. What state university is it? Because I know my state university would just be utterly impressed that you took one AP. If you really hate it that much, then I would just drop it, but even my friend (who may or may not care nothing about the environment) now sees that the content is easy to relate to multiple other subjects. I think it’s worth staying in it and recommend you do. Anyone else have this same experience?

Always a bad strategy. Take courses because they interest you and/or are related to future goals.

For a state uni, dropping it will probably not make that much difference assuming that you can replace it with something of equal rigor.

No, AP Environmental is not worth it if you aren’t interested in it. Switch to another honors or AP class.

Depends what you would drop it for. If you switch into another science class (even if it isn’t an AP Class, like Chemistry, Physics or something like that) it probably wouldn’t hurt you very much (If at all). But if you plan to switch into an elective class like cooking or something then I would say no. But it also depends what the state school you are trying to get into is.

I’m thinking of switching to CAD/Drafting II and a semester study hall. I dont want another science because I already take Chem and Physics so whats left after dropping APES is marine bio and such which I already took sophmore year. Moreover, the semester study hall will probably be needed for me to study for the SAT. Now, I’m applying to Uconn so I wonder if that will affect my chances…

i think one semester study hall won’t affect your chances, although it would be better if you could fill it with a class.

Yeah, I suppose that’s true. I feel bad about dropping APES though. It’s an AP course and junior year is supposed to be the toughest. I hope my other two APs and SAT can make up for it. But looks like I now know what I want to do.

Thanks for your replies everyone!
