Is AP GOV and AP world a required credit in most colleges?

Is AP GOV and AP world a required credit in most colleges. Our high school is offering AP world and I am not interested in doing AP world, even though but most of the kids in my school are doing it. I know I can do fine on AP world staying on top of things, but still do not want to do it. I would want to do it only if it is a required credit in most colleges. How would I know.

Getting AP credit depends upon the college. You need to check each school specifically but I know for both my son’s that AP Gov was given credit at all their schools while AP World was given credit at only a few schools. My attitude about AP courses is to take what interests you regardless of the credit you many receive.

Google is your friend.

They are not required. Many schools do not even offer AP world.

Don’t do it if you’re not interested in it. It’s a time intensive course, and if you don’t do well in it it would bring down your GPA. If you have to do a world history req like we did then you can just take honors or regular.
