Is AP Human Geography worth it?

sooo is it?? i can;t decide whether or not to take it.
if I were to take it, how many other AP courses could I take with it concurrently?
I am also planning on taking..
AP calc AB
AP Bio
AP Spanish (Lit or Lang, undecided)
Any opinions on any of these other courses? Which of them have you taken, were they extremely challenging?
Thank you!!

I’m taking AP Human Geography as a freshman, and I find it quite interesting (and I’m a person who’s not very interested in social science). As for whether it is worth it, you will have to answer that question yourself. As for me, I find AP World History better because themes are more important, while in AP Human, the memorization element plays a slightly bigger role. Your schedule will be packed, but if you study smart, then you should be fine!

moose97,
Thanks for the advice! I would take it earlier if I could, but because of school requirements, I can’t take it until junior or senior year. :P

No problem! :D

I’m taking AP Human Geography as a senior and the subject itself is interesting. You get some history and sociology all in one and it’s all easy to take in and understand. My teacher, however, does not make the class worth it to me. But that’s where I am. If your teacher is good and focused and doesn’t go off on tangents about Afghanistan and burkas every class period (sorry, it got personal)…then it’s an enjoyable class.

My brother is taking AP Human Geo and he says it’s fairly easy, but a lot work. He also says that it’s very interesting. It’s something new and gives you a new insight to new things.

I’d say it’s a good AP for freshman who are looking for an introduction to AP classes but don’t want something overly challenging. Otherwise, I’d avoid it unless you have a particular desire for it. But … if you want to take it because you have a genuine interest in it, go for it!
