Is AP Lit credit for UT worthless?

I'm not sure if I should take the AP Lit exam. I already have the AP Lang exam which satisfies the RHE 306 credit. Please help me understand the core curriculum. The second component has to be taken at UT, right? So does this mean that the AP Lit credit for E 316K is worthless? Also, I'm not majoring in English, anyways.

noooo! it’s not useless! you can get credit for it. I almost made a huge mistake by not taking it because the school I thought I was gonna go to took either 5 on Lang or 5 on Lit.

The Lang exam is actually useless for UT because 650+ on CR on SAT = credit I think.

I wish I got credit for AP Lit :(

So do I need this AP lit credit even if I’m majoring in one of the sciences? and can someone still explain the core curriculum to me?

If the AP Lit credit translates to an English Lit credit at UT, then no, its NOT worthless. If I’m correct, I believe that everyone from business majors to engineering majors have to take English Lit as part of the core curriculum.

Any and all AP credits should be sent to UT has it won’t hurt you unless if you’re trying to transfer into the business internaly as they have a credit limit.

Yea dude, I’d look at your degree plan (just google “UT Austin (your major) degree plan” and it should take you to probably the department page with a pdf of it). I’m doing Biomedical Engineering and they still want E 316K and RHE 306.

What’s this about a 650 on CR getting you out of lang? Can anyone verify that? Cause I could easily get a 3 on Lang this year, but I don’t want to waste my school’s money if I can just use my SAT.

@Mg
yeah Natural Sciences needs it.

@michael

It’s actually 600+ lol, but on Writing, my bad
or 26+ on ACT (that’s pretty low…)

@Aali
it won’t hurt you no matter what. You choose which credits you want to claim. You can claim none of it if you want to.

Definitely take the AP exam. I’m in E 316K right now, and it’s so freaking boring. I hate this class. It’s such a waste of time, but it’s not particularly hard though.

Is the RHE 306 and E316K different from the writing component?

yeah, those don’t count for the writing component, but you still need them both.
