I’m a sophomore right now and I was suppose to take AP Physics 1 but I switched last minute to AP Chem because I’m more comfortable with chemistry. Honestly I’m not that smart I was just given the opportunity to double up bio and Chem freshman year so I had the choice to take whatever science. Based on your experience how was AP Physics? Also what would be the better class to take 1, 2, or C? I haven’t taken regular physics yet so I don’t have much exposure to it but I know I have to take it if I want to major for Chemical Engineering. Is it harder than AP Chem? and would it be better to take AP physics 1 my junior year then take 2 my senior year. I’m kinda lost
It depends on your math skills. Physics c requires calculus. Some engineering schools wont accept ap credit for physics and generally require two semesters of physics.
It’s highly recommended that you start with Physics 1. At most schools, 2 isn’t necessary for C. As @scubadive said, it does depend on your math.
Yeah, all you’re doing it math, but the Calculus is basic, nothing too hard. Just know how to integrate and derive formulas. That’s the easiest part. What is hard is knowing which formula to use, when to substitute, and understanding the concepts. And yes, I highly recommend a previous physics class. It also depends on your teacher. Since Physics 1 is a req at my school, teacher knows (or assumes) that we had previous Physics training, and so he glazes over certain concepts and just like that, you can lose sight. I’d say Physics C depends mostly on your ability to break down what a question is asking and what to do. And trust me, the class is unrelenting. But also, does your school teach both Mech and E&M? Because if it just teaches Mech, the class will actually be very slow. If it teaches both, well, hold on tight. We have tests once every other week because of it.
