Is applying as a Spanish major less competitive at UCLA?

I just wanted to know because my test scores not gpa might be a bit on the lower side for UCLA. Will applying as a Spanish major help? My application will show a lot of achievement and involvement in Spanish as well.

Within the College of Letters and Science it does not matter what major you apply as (except for impacted majors that you can’t apply for until after you get in anyways), they all have the same chances of getting in. That is to say that applying under one major rather than another doesn’t give you a better chance just because it may have less people applying to that specific one. Many people end up changing their majors when they get here anyways when they find out what truly works for them, and most of the time it can be as easy as just completing the pre-reqs before making the change. Sorry, but if you work hard I’m sure you can still have a great chance overall!

One of my former classmate’s father teaches Spanish at UCI and she said something about the UCs wanting to admit more Spanish majors or something like that. Don’t know how true it is, but I put Spanish as my major on all my UC apps [-O<
