Is Applying to QuestBridge a Disadvantage If I Don't Have Stellar Stats?

I'm a highly hardworking average student at a public magnet school and my GPA has significantly increased since the second half of sophomore year when I started to take school seriously. My cumulative GPA is probably 3.5-3.6 unweighted and 3.6-3.7 weighted as of the end of my junior year in HS. I scored a 27 on my first official ACT exam and the application process will be over by the time I get my scores back from doing the next exam in September. My EC's are decent but not amazing, and my AP scores were 3 on English Lit and 4 on APUSH. Again, I've been working extremely hard since the second half of my sophomore year and I was wondering if I applied with my current stats, will it ruin my if I had not instead appleid regularly?

Go for it! You can reapply to any school RD that you did not get matched to through QuestBridge, there is not disadvantage. BTW I got CPS with not much higher numbers…

Okay, then I’ll apply. Thanks for your response.

I have another question: Should I apply through The National College Match or with The Questbridge Regular Decision? Is it harder to get admission through The National College Match? I’m asking because if I applied through The Questbridge Regular Decision program I would have to submit my 27 ACT score and I plan on taking it again in September to bring it up to the low 30s.

My college choices are:

  1. UCSD or UCI
    UCLA
    USC
    UCSB
    USD
    UCSC
    UCD
Baylor University (the only out-of-state I will surely apply to)
    Pomona College
    Claremont McKenna
    Occidental College

and perhaps some other OOS schools

Do both if you are okay with potentially being matched to a school (meaning you can’t apply anywhere else with a few exceptions). If you become a finalist you can participate in the match and if you do not get matched reapply to all of those schools (as well as the other partner schools) RD…

I’ll apply through both ways, but the only colleges I will want to go to are USC and Pomona and if I was to get into a different college through Questbridge, will I still be able to apply to the UCs? Thank you so much for your help.

If you get into one of the two through the match it will be binding and you cannot apply anywhere else, if you get in by forwarding your QB app through RD you can still apply to other schools.
