Is AU worth a shot?

<p>I really love American University, the urban setting and international relations program seem amazing! I am definitely planning to apply, but I don't know if I can get in. Currently I have an 84 average overall(sophomore year messed me up) and only 1510 on SAT!(I am retaking it this Saturday and hope for an 1800(1750 at the least). I am currently 12th grade representative for my schools student government and I am a member of the "Gay Straight Alliance." I also won a scholarship to study abroad in Korea for the month of July this year and have taught myself Korean and Chinese.(I'm a native English speaker") Also, I interned for John Liu (he ran for mayor of New Yorj City for the summer when I got back from Korea and received 110 community service hours from it. I also usher at my church. I plan to major in Chinese and International Relations in College, but I really want AU! Can anyone give me advice about what I can improve on(I know my SAT score has to be much higher! Is there anything more I can do? I am planning to apply Early decision and I will stay overnight at the school next month for a tour of the school, to show my interest. Thank you for reading! Have a great day!
