Is b.u. worth the money?

i got into the gsp program, and from previous threads it sounds like i will be bored for two years and waste around 80K if i go. however, because i can transfer into COMM junior year, will the connections i make and the job i land be able to pay for my education, making my attendance worth it? i know journalists start out with an avg 30K salary after college, so i don’t know how i’ll be able to pay my student loan (25-30K a year) with that much money; is the alum network that strong? what should i do??

Only you can decide. Have you visited BU? Is there an accepted student open house this month at CGS? You live in New Jersey, so it's not that far to visit. To which other colleges were you accepted?

DONT TAKE OUT LOANS ITLL BE THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF UR LIFE! IF U WANT MORE INFO ON THIS GIMME AN E-MAIL @ JVAHMED@GMAIL.COM

okay i will be emailing you soon!

I don't see why taking out loans needs to be the end of your life. I don't think I'd recommend that a journalism major take out $120k in loans, but taking out loans in general certainly isn't bad.

Why not share the store here for all of us?

Hi JVAhmed,

Why not loans, Specially if you cannot afford to attend BU otherwise. Will appreciate if you share you story.

for the average student graduating from bu after 4 years, does anyone know the approximate debt burden???

According to college board:
Average indebtedness at graduation: $21,196

This seems kinda low but it does encompass all of the rich kids whose parents pay for everything so that could be off-setting the number a bit.

thanks and yeah it does cuz i think i'm lookin at...more than $21,196

Consider how much you will earn and that your payments will be spread out for years. Education is an investment. Only you can decide its worth but hundreds of thousands of kids pay off these loans each year so it is doable.

doesn't mean i can't try for more money...come on financial aid appeal!!!!!!!!!
