Is Barnard the right school for me?

Hi everybody. i just wanted to know if i should apply to Barnard. I know its an all girls school and im ok with that. could anybody give me insight on what its like to be a barnard student? And if you could answer some of my questions…

-hows the social scene
-are the girls clique
-how good is the psych program there

and lastly, Im not boy obsessed or anything but i do have my share of guy friends. is it hard to make guy friends??

thanks!!!

the social scene is as active as you want it to be. During orientation week, (ie the week before classes start for CU) everyone goes sort of crazy. That’s when you’ll meet people who will get you into places. If parties and that sort of thing isn’t what you want, you can always go into the city to explore other stuff, which is what a lot of people do.

As with any place, there are cliquey girls. But there are also non-cliquey girls. There isn’t just one type of Barnard woman, and so there isn’t just one clique. Yes, there are some girls who only hang out with their friends, but there are many more who are open to the world and experiencing new things/meeting new people. For the most part, everyone is just really nice, if they are part of a “clique” or not.

I’m not to sure about the psych, since I haven’t taken it. But everyone who’s in it seems to love it, and its definitely one of the most popular programs. (they hype around the classes is so much that I’m taking it next semester, just to see what all the fuss is about.)

Making guy friends is easy. No, you won’t live with them, but you have classes together, go in the same student centers, dining halls, are in the same clubs, etc.

in a word, Barnard is just awesome. I love going here, even though I’m only halfway through my first semester. I’ve made really interesting friends, and going to school in the environment is just awesome.
