Hi, i plan on taking the ACT in september, and ive been studying with the Barrons ACT (15th edition) book. I took a practice test from studypoint.com and got a 27 without really even trying too hard. Yet when i look at the questions in this book, i always tend to get more wrong?, Is this book harder than the real test?

Im starting to get demoralized.. i was aiming for a 30 on the ACT, the english section is whats bothering me the most, this book makes it extremely BORING, they barely even explain anything in laymans terms without using grammar related words. Sorry if im offending anyone but im really not a fan of english.

Does anyone feel this way about this book?
Is this book harder than the real test?

Much more difficult. I got a disheartening grade on most of my exams. I would get a 28 comp and almost always get angry at myself. However, I usually score 32+ on other exams.

haha i hope so! I got a 30 on the actual test w/o studying or prep and i just bought the Barrons today so hopefully using this i can improve. plus i trust Barrons lol, it always gets me through my NYS regents fine.

Well, Barron’s is generally always really hard. It’s designed by people who want to absolutely make sure that they cover everything on the actual test. Many times, the standardized test it reviews contains a wide variety of topics it could possibly cover (that it usually doesn’t) that makes it seem like over preparation.

Thanks for the info. I finally figured out how come I got stuck in so many parts of the book.
