Is Being A Founder Worth Anything

A friend and I founded the Spanish National Honor Society chapter for our school. We did all the work to get it up and running, so would this serve as a leadership position even I didn't get a concrete one within the club?

Yes, so long as you can expound on it.

wait…so you founded the club, but didn’t get a leadership position IN it?

Yeah, kinda dumb I know, but I didn’t get a leadership position in it. I was the one who took the initiative though to get it all set up so future generations at my school would be able to enjoy it. Anyone have anything else to say?

It may count a little bit, but, frankly, most colleges don’t factor ECs into admission, and for the ones that do – places like HPYS – your just being a founder without achieving anything else of significance for the club wouldn’t count for much. They also would wonder how much leadership you showed if you founded a club but weren’t elected to an officer position.
