I am a white upper middle class (no money to throw at the school) female with a father and older brother who both went to Harvard. I am very active in my school community, do a lot of volunteer work, have an internship and have had a job for three years, plus I'm starting a new job in the fall. The problem is that I am non-athletic and have a 3.0 GPA.
Is there any chance that I could get in or should I just not even bother applying?

My opinion (and strictly opinion) is that even a person with a 4.0 UW GPA may get rejected at Harvard because there are that many people who are qualified. While you can try and apply, your chances of getting accepted are slim to none. Most people who get accepted have perfect SATs and GPAs and enough extracurriculars to last a lifetime! I’m sorry if this sounds harsh!

There might be a chance, but it would be slim, as the Harvard supplement this year doesn’t even ask if you’re a legacy.
