Is being an immigrant a good hook/positive contribution to an application?

How much does being an immigrant help...?

can i get a bump you?

depends where from and where too and what college

a korean immigrant to california doesnt help you at ivies or UCs, and a hisanic immigrant to Texas doesnt help you at UT (maybe at ivies)

but a hipanic immigrant to idaho would help the person alot

How about an indian immigrant?
edit: who's really broke

probably not, epecially not if your in california

Can i get some REAL OPINIONS/FACTS on this?

i doubt it will help significantly...how long ago did you move?

well when i apply it'll be 4 years

There are just too many people in your situation, especially Asians, for it to help.

If you're Asian/Indian/Hispanic, then no. Seriously, like ... over 50% of California is hispanic, and there is no lack of Asians or Indians either.

If you're from a more unusual country like Bosnia, or Niger, maybe. But it depends on if/how you spin it in your essays. You have to make it interesting.
