and by the way, does a particular UC care about ur other admissions. say u applied to 4 UCs, will one take into account if u got into all three other ones. Do they try to make it so u dont get into all of the uc's u applied to?

no the number of UCs youve applied to will not affect your admissions......your stats are ok, most people would say its a big reach but knowing so many people at Berkeley admissions including my College Counselor, its really up in the air. Berkeley is pretty random. Unfortunately your lack of ECs might hurt you in the long run...GOOD LUCK THO

It does seem like a reach to me, but I am really not knowledgable in the UCs. Either way, if Berkeley is where you want to be, you should apply. If you can pay the fee, it can't hurt, and not applying is an automatic reject.

A friend of mine got in to berkeley with lower SAT scores (1200 something SAT, sub 500 SAT IIs) but a UC GPA of 4.4, got into Berkeley with basically no ECs. I think you've got a shot at it.

was the friend of yours named William Hung? i thought William was smart and the stunt he pulled on American Idol was just a classic :)
That reminds me, gotta sent SAT II scores

you UC GPA is fine because my friend got in with a 3.9 UC GPA. Anyways, i think ur SAT II and SAT will bring u down. FOr my friend he had a 3.9 UC GPA with 1480 SAT I
Math IIC:730 Writing :700 Spanish:800

i do know students who were probably less accomplished in high school than you who got the spring admit for berkeley. i would say that your 1250 and low sat II scores may be the main factors making berkeley a reach for you. but there is a better chance for spring admit.

Since ucsd uses that point system, does anyone else know how ucberk does it? Is it also some sort of "points" thing or do they weigh out the factors differently...Cuz the UCSD point thing allows for that someone with ridiculously good gpa/sat could earn enough points to get in without ANY EC's

each UC's point system is different, UCB and UCLA are the most unpredictable, usually with a good GPA, decent SATs, and good ECs you can get into berk, but UCLA looks more at the total package, they only want the best of the best, the top GPAs, top SATs, ECs, and essays...

UCSD is all points, i dont think they really care about essays lol

The Ucs actually compete with each other for top students. Most often someone who gets into UCB and UCLA is offered a free ride at a lower school. UCB will come down to how good your essay is IMO, as you have acceptable stats but not on the high end for the school. Good luck!

thanks people. but im really thinkin for some reason that if i get into irvine sd and davis than berkeley will def reject me just so someone with those stats doesnt go 4 for 4

I think if anything what will get you in is ELC. With ELC your admissions chance increases. You should get into all the other UC's for sure, but with Berkeley it's 50/50

Are you a senior this year? Because if you are, UCI automatically accepted every ELC-er. They wrote to me and said I was guaranteed a spot if I applied.

yea they sent me that too. they say for elc berk has a 62% admit rate. does that really mean that the majority of elc ppl are admitted than rejected, or is there some catch?

ELC doesn't up your chances. People with ELC have a good chance because if they are in the top 4%, they are achievers! Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?

ok but ucberk is totally more competitive than ucla (academic wise right)? (im from OOS- seattle)... and when you mean "essay" which of the 3 UC essays do you mean...Because they cant totally use the 3rd essay because although im sure theyd take "unfortunate" circumstances into account...it doesnt mean actually having no problems would make u a less competitive student? So would thye focus on the first and second essay? And how much do they take into consideration the SAt1/SAt2s...(I have a 1380, 700,700,800)
