I would really like to go to Boston University. I know it isn't extremely selective (50% acceptance rate) and I have good SAT scores (1800 and 600-630 on the subject tests). I was wondering if not taking many AP courses is going to kill my chances of getting in. I'm not taking any APs now but I'm going to take probably 3 or 4 AP courses my senior year. Assuming I continue getting good grades, will that help? Thanks

My D was recently accepted to BU with an 1820 sat and NO AP’s! Of course it depends which school you are applying to, but with 3 or 4 AP’s and if you can bring up your score a little you should be fine. Also, their acceptance rate this year was around 44% I believe.

I encourage you to take as many APs or higher level classes that you can. As you can see from the Common Data Set http://www.bu.edu/oir/files/2011/03/cds-c.pdf Class Rigor is THE most important element considered for admissions.
