<p>Its ranked top 10 in business undergrad program but is it really good school?Is it worth of applying there?Do they have good finance/banking program?How about the location?And what is the usual starting salary of Brigham finance graduate?</p>

<p>I heard finance and accounting was really good at BYU. And yes, just like with other colleges/universities it is possible to get into an Ivy League school with good solid college grades. I heard BYU graduates have more chances though than most schools here in Utah specifically. Location is nice, the environment is clean and lots of fun (without the drinking, drugs, and sex, of course). Wouldn't know what the salary was for that program in particular. But BYU graduates average in about $80,000 to start with. I`m guessing it would be a lot more for business majors. </p>

<p>PS-plus is it a well-known college in USA?I dont want to be rude or anything its just Utah is not one of the top states for businessman.I mean if its on 7th place of business undergrad colleges then its suppose to be well known but still just want to check.Can a person from that college find a job lets say in New York city?</p>

<p>Racism against caucasian immigrants? lol. Nah. I mean you don't just have people from all over the US, you have people going to BYU from all over the world. There is a ton of diversity there. So I don't think racism is present, and plus, the church doesn't tolerate that sort of behavior. </p>
<p>A 3.3 GPA is a little on the rough side...a 27 ACT is solid and average of a BYU student....I'd say it would be fair chances of getting in with only that information. But you need to realize they also ask you to write an essay, get recomendations from your bishop and seminary teacher (If you are LDS, but I don't know for other cases). Those are also factors for admission. </p>
<p>If it's high up there with other schools in business then it must be well-known. Other people who aren't mormon know what the BYU campus is. It's sometimes a big advantage I heard with employers...because they know they can trust you and that you're honest basically. (Since you are following the Honor Code: abstaining from alcohol, sex, and drugs). lol. Wouldn't know what to tell you specifically for business employers. I`m sure the reaction is the same. I know lawyers that have graduated from BYU and have jobs in law firms located in LA in California, Las Vegas in Nevada, and Seattle in Washington. Haven't met any who are working in New York City, but wouldn't rule out that there are BYU lawyers working there.</p>

As far as I can see, BYU is pretty easy to get in for mormans. I know couple kids from my school got into the hawii one with average of 3.1-3.2 GPA(maybe EVEN lower) this year and HORRIABLE SATs..like 1500 on a 2400 scale..

<p>Hey I’m Jewish (don’t laugh) but I am looking into BYU for their school of business and finance. American-Jewish University did not catch my eye (in LA). Anyway, with a GPA of a 4.08 and SAT of 2110 do you think they would let me in? I think it would be interesting.</p>

<p>Don’t assume you can go to BYU Business with just good stats. They want you to do seminary at BYU…which is concerning to me. My son would fit beautifully at BYU - he is a bit of a square. A FUN square, but decidedly conservative. Mormons believe by faith that works are what earn your way to heaven and they teach a clean and good lifestyle. I have many Mormon friends. But we are Christians. And Mormons have a distinctly different slant on Christianity than do mainstream Protestant religions. Mormons want their students to have a very good command of their doctrine. There is a reason why the cost of BYU is so low. They consider the university a ministry of their church. You need to ask yourself if you are open to their faith…either just to learn more about it, or to embrace it. As a parent, I see the differences between their faith and mine as significant enought to want to think long and hard about whether I want my son to be enveloped in their faith at one of the more formative parts of his life. On one hand, I would love for him to be at a strong business program, such as BYU, and in a program that is so values focused and missions focused. I would love him to be surrounded by people who take seriously their role as world changers. On the other hand, it could make a significant difference in his faith in a way that our faith is not consistent with.</p>
<p>I know this is off topic, but I just wanted to clarify. Mormons believe both faith and works are important. And the reality of the situation is, if you have faith your works will reflect it anyway. </p>
<p>Honestly I don’t think it’s a different slant of Christianity, it’s the same Christianity. </p>
<p>BYU’s business school is great no doubt, but if you’re worried he won’t fit into the culture that’s completely reasonable.</p>
